Multiply a number by itself and the result is smaller than the number

 I was asked this question in one of the interviews.

When you first listen to this, you might think there is no such number or you may start guessing. You might guess any negative number. However, if you keep it simple, the solution is very easy. Our powerful companion "X" solves almost everything. So here you go:

Let us say the number is x.

So, the equation be like

x * x < x

=> x<1 (dividing both side by x)

So each number less than 1, multiplied by itself gives the result smaller than the number.
